recycling week 7 - 13 November

Recycling Week 7 - 13th November 2016
Beginning on Monday the 7th of November is Recycling Week. Could we as a class try to limit the amount of plastic we have in our lunch boxes for the week at least? Learning about Penguins with Mrs Hancock

Yesterday students in Room 3 worked with Mrs Handcock.  
Here are some of the things I found listed on my whiteboard.
These are all the children's words
  Penguins

• eat fish
• can be blue penguins
• slide on tummies
• swim under water very fast
• waddle and flap arms
• babies ride on parent's feet
• waddle on ice
• can't fly
• oil under feathers/on skin
• some yellow around eyes/black patches
• some white around eyes
• do tricks in the water
• Not many yellow eyed penguins left
• sharks and seals eat penguins
• have feathers to keep warm
• lay eggs
• live in Antarctica on ice
• like the cold
• live in a nest
• live in caves/burrows

They obviously had a great day.

News in Room 3

Michael brought along some very interesting rocks to share with the class.  This generated lots of
discussion.  Especially the one that looked like pumice but was orange and very heavy.  We haven't worked out yet what type of rock it actually is.

In term 3 we are going to write a blog post once a week showing something that is happening in our class.  We are sending home the URL of the blog on a piece of paper with the QR code.  To use the QR code you will need to download a QR reader app onto either your phone or  iPad.  This will make it easier to find the blog.  When placing comments it is important to be positive and encouraging.  Please be aware this is a new learning opportunity for everyone in the class (teacher) included.  Your support in this is very much appreciated.  Any concerns please talk to me in person.
